Data Engineer
Job Description
Sage Care Inc is building healthcare products that rely on accurate, well-managed data and dependable extraction pipelines. In this onsite role in Palo Alto, CA, you will take ownership of the full lifecycle of healthcare data, designing scalable data management and data access systems that support features such as Provider Matching, Scheduling, Referral Recommendation, and AI voice agents.
You will work across backend data engineering, ML/AI research-adjacent development, and software engineering, including building UI for users to view and manage data. The focus is on HIPAA-compliant storage and flexible solutions that can integrate with healthcare systems and extract useful knowledge from raw inputs.
Responsibilities
- Build and own the core data management system for healthcare data.
- Develop data fetch solutions through integrations with systems such as EPIC.
- Create flexible, scalable, and efficient storage solutions designed to be HIPAA compliant.
- Build user-facing UI to view and manage data.
- Implement a knowledge extraction layer on top of raw data.
- Summarize key results from provider notes.
- Extract high-level, important properties from raw data.
Requirements
- 5+ years of data engineering experience.
- Experience with data extraction and summarization.
- Experience working closely with end users in an iterative process to gather feedback.
- Strong backend engineering skills and systems thinking.
- Experience solving ambiguous problems by defining solutions from first principles.
- Experience turning novel techniques into testable prototypes.
