Data Engineer
Job Description
Goodville Mutual Casualty Company is seeking a Data Engineer to improve how data moves through the organization, strengthen database performance, and build reliable ETL pipelines. The position focuses on ensuring the overall data infrastructure remains scalable, efficient, and aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to optimize data workflows across data systems
- Enhance database performance through tuning and workflow improvements
- Develop robust ETL pipelines to support data processing and integration
- Ensure the data infrastructure is scalable, efficient, and aligned with business requirements
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work three (3) days in office at 625 W Main St, New Holland, PA 17557
- Two (2) days remote from the home office, subject to HR approval and company remote policies
- Ability to perform domestic, monthly travel to all organization offices, including locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Dakota, plus vendor work sites
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information Systems, or a related field
- 60 months of experience working in data engineering for a Property and Casualty insurance company
- 60 months of experience as an ETL developer for a Property and Casualty insurance company
- Experience using ETL and data integration tools and distributed data processing, including programmatic database interaction, such as SSIS, PySpark/PySQL, or equivalent
- Experience with cloud-based data orchestration, asynchronous messaging, and serverless computing for querying and manipulating structured data, including ETL/data integration tools such as SQL, SSIS, ADF, Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, or equivalent
- Experience with relational databases and performance tuning techniques using tools such as SQL Server, DB2, Azure SQL, Fabric Lakehouse, or equivalent
- Experience with system integration technologies (APIs) such as REST, SOAP, XML, and JSON; scripting languages such as Python and Shell; and the design and implementation of event-driven data flows and ETL pipelines
