Data Engineer
Job Description
Trinzic is hiring a Data Engineer to help deliver data-driven decision analysis products for the Department of Defense. Working onsite in Honolulu, HI, you will support analytic consulting, data product development, and the operation of CHEETAS tools that bring insights from DoD Test and Evaluation data to analysts, technical teams, and VIP stakeholders.
You will bring hands-on experience building and running big data analytics and ETL/data pipelines, while also supporting end users with practical, tool-based guidance. The role includes stakeholder engagement, translating results into recommendations, and occasional travel to DoD ranges and labs across the US.
Responsibilities
- Provide analytic consulting to support analytic workflow and product development and testing, including applied methods projects and assistance with creating analysis-ready data.
- Serve as a key face of the CHEETAS Team, ensuring stakeholders have the analytical tools, data products, and reports needed to make insightful recommendations from your data-driven analysis.
- Assist analysts and non-analyst stakeholders in analyzing DoD datasets, demonstrating the “art of the possible” through insights from DoD Test and Evaluation (T&E) data.
- Communicate effectively at both programmatic and technical levels.
- Run and operate CHEETAS and other tools: demonstrate them to stakeholders and VIPs, convey analysis results, adapt internal tools/notebooks/reports to emerging needs, and capture gaps and requirements as feature requests or bug reports.
- Conduct impromptu hands-on training with end users and perform troubleshooting as needed.
- Work independently with limited supervision or direct tasking.
Requirements
- Active or current TS/SCI Clearance is required.
- Degree in operations research, engineering, applied math, statistics, computer science, or information technology.
- Entry level candidates will not be considered.
- Previous experience must include five (5) years hands-on experience in big data analytics.

- Experience dealing with imperfections in data.
- Competency in software engineering and programming, statistical analysis, data mining algorithms, machine learning, and modeling sufficient to inform technical choices and infrastructure configuration.
- Proven analytical skills preparing and handling large volumes of data for ETL processes.
- Experience working with teams to develop and interpret results of analytic products with DoD-specific data types.
- Experience installing, configuring, and using big data infrastructure (e.g., Spark, Trino, Hadoop, Hive, Neo4J, JanusGraph, HBase, MS SQL Server with Polybase, VMWare).
- Experience implementing data visualization solutions.
