Job Description

Capital One is building cloud-first data capabilities to support powerful experiences that help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment. In this onsite role in Plano, TX, you will help drive a major transformation by designing, developing, and operating scalable data pipelines and platforms across modern data engineering, machine learning, and distributed systems.

What you’ll do

  • Work with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full-stack tools and technologies
  • Partner across product managers and software engineers to deliver robust cloud-first data solutions
  • Independently design, build, and deliver cloud data, API, and MCP solutions and applications with little or no support from supervisors or managers
  • Build scalable, resilient, and operationally efficient data pipelines and platforms capable of performing under increasing data volume and business demand
  • Architect and enforce shared data engineering design patterns to improve code quality, maintainability, and reusability across pipelines and platforms
  • Lead end-to-end, large-scale transformative data initiatives, including evaluating platform choices such as Snowflake versus Databricks based on technical and business requirements
  • Act as a data engineering ambassador by communicating technical concepts and data outcomes clearly to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a force-multiplier through deep, hands-on contributions and mentoring that elevates the skills of peers and junior engineers
  • Use technologies such as Python and Spark alongside open-source relational and NoSQL databases and cloud-based data warehousing platforms

How you’ll build and operate

You’ll apply hands-on engineering across lakehouse-style architectures, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems. The role also emphasizes continuous learning, experimentation with new technologies, participation in internal and external technology communities, and knowledge sharing with the broader data community.
