Job Description
Data Engineer, Analytics (Ranking, AI) at Meta collaborates with software engineering, data science, and product management teams to design and build scalable data solutions and architectures across Meta to optimize growth, strategy, and user experience for our 3 billion plus users.
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (onsite) | Salary: USD 177,000 - 247,000 per year | Experience: 7+ years | Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the data architecture for several large-scale initiatives, assessing design choices and operating cost-benefit tradeoffs across systems
- Develop and contribute to logging data frameworks that improve data capture quality, collaborating with data infrastructure teams to triage and resolve issues
- Work with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to identify data needs and present core insights through effective visualizations
- Define and manage SLAs for data sets within assigned domains
- Design and enforce security models aligned with privacy requirements, ensure safeguards are observed, address data quality issues, and evolve governance within owned areas
- Develop and deploy advanced data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across products or domains
- Tackle complex data integration challenges using effective ETL patterns, frameworks, and queries across structured and unstructured sources
- Support ownership of production processes, optimizing code with advanced algorithms
- Improve pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to streamline creation of data artifacts
- Influence product and cross-functional teams to uncover data opportunities that drive impact
- Provide mentorship and actionable feedback to teammates
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- At least 7 years in data-focused roles such as data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, or similar
- 7+ years of experience with SQL, ETL, data modeling, and proficiency in at least one programming language (for example Python, C++, C#, Scala, or similar)
