Job Description

Travelers offers an onsite data engineering role in Atlanta, GA with a salary range of $109,300 - $180,200 USD per year. The Data Engineer I will build and operationalize complex data solutions and pipelines to support AI and ML initiatives as well as business intelligence, and this position requires experience with ETL tooling, Spark or PySpark, SQL, and cloud data platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and deploy complex data solutions, troubleshoot issues, apply data transformations, and propose data cleansing and quality improvements.
  • Design data architectures to meet analytical needs.
  • Evaluate data sources for value and recommend data to include in analytics workflows.
  • Apply core data management practices including data governance, data security, and data quality controls.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams to support delivery and educate end users on data products and the analytic environment.
  • Analyze data and system defects or incidents of moderate complexity and implement appropriate resolutions.
  • Validate data movement, transformation code, and data components through testing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Talend, Informatica, or Ab Initio.
  • At least one year of Spark or PySpark experience (required).
  • Proficiency in SQL across multiple platforms including Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with cloud and data platforms such as AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with ETL development in data lake and data warehouse environments, preferably Snowflake.
  • Hands-on experience building data pipelines and reusable components using AWS services, PySpark, and Snowflake within the last two years.
  • Strong familiarity with cloud platforms, programming languages, and data engineering practices.
  • Ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace, decompose tasks into small releases, and participate in tradeoff discussions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with team members and business partners.
  • Two additional years of software or data engineering experience.
