Data Scientist
Job Description
Data Scientist on the DISCO M&G team within Amazon Music, based in Culver City, California (onsite). The role centers on analyzing large-scale data, developing models and algorithms, and guiding identity, acquisition, and retention strategies across marketing, product, and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Lead the research and development of models and science products that drive identity, acquisition, and retention initiatives for Amazon Music.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Growth leadership to craft science-driven business strategies, including subscriber segmentation, lifecycle management, and upsell programs.
- Develop predictive models such as propensity, uplift, and causal inference to support targeted marketing, quantify incremental impact, and automate analyses of key metric variances.
- Work with product, engineering, and marketing teams to assess the impact of growth campaigns, features, and algorithmic interventions through rigorous experimentation.
- Examine experiment results and provide data-driven recommendations to optimize subscriber acquisition and retention.
- Collaborate with senior data scientists and product managers to define, propose, and validate success and guardrail metrics for identity and growth initiatives.
- Educate marketing and growth teams on analytics, measurement frameworks, and experimentation best practices to foster evidence-based decision making.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience as a data scientist.
- More than three years of experience with data querying languages (eg SQL), scripting languages (eg Python), or statistical/mathematical software (eg R, SAS, Matlab).
- Over three years of experience with machine learning and statistical modeling tools and techniques, including understanding factors that affect performance.
- At least one year of experience working with or evaluating AI systems.
- Experience applying theoretical models in real-world, applied environments.
- Bachelor's Degree with five or more years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree with two or more years of relevant experience.

Compensation
Annual salary range: USD 136,000 - 212,800 per year.
