Data Scientist
Job Description
The City of Hope seeks a Data Scientist for a fully remote role based in the United States. The position focuses on designing and delivering AI and advanced analytics solutions, training predictive models, developing AI agents and experiments, and partnering with engineering teams to productionize implementations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with administrative leaders, clinicians, researchers, and software engineers to align analytic work with organizational goals
- Query and interpret large clinical and operational datasets to derive actionable insights
- Build end-to-end machine learning pipelines, AI and LLM based tools, and supporting statistical analyses
- Design and implement validation frameworks for AI and ML initiatives, including experiments, pilots, and performance metrics
- Work with engineering teams to productionize models and deploy them into production platforms and environments
- Produce clear technical documentation and deliver presentations for diverse stakeholders
- Lead project work by decomposing requests into tasks and managing timelines independently
- Independently investigate business and clinical questions and the datasets required to address them
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Requirements
- Master’s degree with 0+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience
- Familiarity with a healthcare environment and electronic health record data
- Experience across data science domains such as time series, deep learning, LLM architectures, NLP, and causal inference
- Experience with cloud services like Microsoft Azure and version control systems such as Git
- Experience with Generative AI and Large Language Models, retrieval augmented generation, fine-tuning, embeddings, prompt engineering, and agent oriented workflows
- Experience with the data science and AI product lifecycle, including model training, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Awareness of the latest trends and developments in artificial intelligence
- Proficiency in developing machine learning models for classification, regression, and clustering
- Experience with relational databases and SQL queries
- Proficiency in Python and its machine learning libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, etc
- Experience designing AI solutions using Python LLM frameworks like LangChain and LangGraph, and building tools or subagents for AI workflows
- Knowledge of probability, statistics, and scientific computing
- Ability to work independently and apply creative approaches to problem solving
- Capability to translate questions into testable hypotheses, extract data from complex databases, and create and evaluate statistical models
- Experience with data visualization and the ability to communicate results to non-technical audiences
- Experience conducting independent research and development with limited supervision
- Experience contributing within large, cross-functional teams with multiple internal and external collaborators
- Experience with Agile project management frameworks, and Jira is a plus

Compensation and Location
Location: Fully remote within the United States
Compensation: USD 53 - 85 per hour
