Job Description
Data Surge offers a remote Data Scientist role focused on enabling data driven innovation across government services. You will build predictive models, ETL pipelines, and analytics solutions while collaborating across policy, engineering, and operations teams. This role requires U.S. citizenship and a minimum of three years of experience in data science or analytics.

Responsibilities
- Improve predictive models that estimate processing timelines for public service requests and provide end users with personalized status updates
- Assist in expanding model development and deployment to new service areas guided by agency priorities
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to broaden intelligent help agent capabilities through data source and application integrations
- Design and apply data cleaning strategies to ensure unstructured data is accurate, appropriate, and safe for public use
- Analyze customer data, including biometric or behavioral signals, to identify reliable identity verification indicators
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of ETL pipelines transitioning from transactional systems to citizen focused data models
- Present technical findings through visualizations, reports, or dashboards tailored for technical and non technical audiences
- Coordinate with policy, engineering, and operations teams to keep analytics solutions aligned with mission goals and regulatory requirements
- Support data governance, ethical AI, and responsible data practices in government settings
- Participate in Agile workflows and contribute to continuous delivery of data science capabilities
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Minimum three years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied machine learning
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, modeling, and pipeline development (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy)
- Experience with both structured and unstructured data, including data cleaning and feature engineering
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases; familiarity with ETL concepts
- Strong understanding of predictive modeling and statistical methods
- Ability to work with sensitive data in secure, compliant environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting analyses and collaborating with diverse teams
- Familiarity with Agile or iterative project development methodologies
