Data Scientist
Job Description
Remote role for an experienced Data Scientist supporting OUSW(P&R) with Python-based automation, predictive analytics, ETL maintenance, and Qlik/Tableau reporting.
Responsibilities
- Design and automate Python workflows for collecting, cleaning, and preprocessing data.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
- Create and maintain Qlik Sense reports and visualizations to communicate insights for stakeholders and end users.
- Build and implement machine learning models and/or predictive analytics solutions.
- Maintain historical data for the Faces to Spaces Data Model.
- Troubleshoot ETL issues and drive timely resolution.
- Update ETL processes to incorporate new data elements for new and existing manpower and personnel data sources.
- Handle data ingestion and transformation, including monthly updates and automation of new ingestion plus visualization refreshes.
- Create data products and interpret data requirements to deliver Qlik/Tableau outputs.
- Refactor and repoint dashboard data ingest from databases.
- Produce documentation covering report usage, data refresh steps, and overall dashboard architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, mathematics, or a related field (required).
- 3–10 years of experience directly related to the listed responsibilities.
- 3 years of Data Analyst or Data Scientist experience with hands-on use of Databricks, Python, Spark, and Pandas.
- Proficiency in Qlik.
- Experience building, training, and deploying machine learning.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to high-quality results with limited direction or oversight.
- Comfort using AI tools to improve product quality and delivery speed.
- U.S. Citizenship (required) and Active Secret clearance (required).
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience with cloud data structures such as AWS S3, delta, and external tables.
- Experience with Machine Learning models and/or Generative AI.
- Demonstrated ability to build end-to-end data pipelines in Databricks and integrate legacy systems.

Employment & Logistics
- Location: Remote (remote); Eastern Standard Time preferred but not required.
- Classification: W2 full-time.
- Work hours: 40 hours per week; 8 hours per working day.
- Travel: No travel required.
- Client: Office of the Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness (OUSW(P&R)).
- Background investigation: Applicants will be subject to a background investigation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: USD 135,000 to 150,000 per year.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Primary workstation located in an office area.
- Noise level: low to moderate.
- Sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time.
- Frequently move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment (PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc.).
- Occasionally reach overhead, bend, and lift objects up to 10 lbs.
- Vision abilities required: use computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
