Data Scientist

Geo Owl is hiring a senior-level Data Scientist for an onsite role in Jacksonville, NC. In this position, you will develop and operationalize advanced analytic solutions that integrate structured and unstructured data to support DoD and Intelligence Community mission effectiveness. Work includes building and modernizing Python-based pipelines, creating interactive dashboards and analytic interfaces, and improving legacy workflows for reliability, scalability, and maintainability in high-consequence environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy Python-based solutions and analytic pipelines that integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including web APIs and enterprise repositories.
• Build solutions, interactive dashboards, and analytic interfaces that enhance analytic rigor, transparency, and reproducibility.
• Modernize legacy workflows to improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability in high-consequence environments.
• Coordinate with clients to understand dataset questions and issues, then determine the best approach to create data-driven solutions within program guidelines.
• Lead and/or assist in the development of automated processes.
• Architect data science solutions and automated workflows.
• Conduct analysis using available tools to analyze data.
• Stay adaptable to mission requirements and identify patterns to help address complex DoD and IC problems.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI Clearance required; ability to obtain a CI Poly.
• 10+ years of relevant experience. A combination of experience and professional certifications, trainings, and/or degree may be used in lieu of the years requirement.
• Senior-level Python proficiency with demonstrated experience designing mission-ready solutions.
• Experience querying and integrating web APIs through Python to retrieve, normalize, and operationalize data.
• Experience developing interactive visualizations using Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib, Bokeh, or comparable tools.
• Experience building dashboards and analytic interfaces using Dash, Streamlit, Panel, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Strong SQL skills and experience querying relational databases.
• Experience using Git-based version control platforms such as GitLab or GitHub.
• Proficiency with geospatial processing frameworks such as GDAL or ArcPy.
• Proficiency with GIS desktop software such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
• Ability to write clear, concise technical documentation related to software systems and automated workflows.
• Ability to operate independently at a senior level with limited oversight.
• Familiarity with USSOCOM and broader U.S. military organizational structures.
• Familiarity with common Intelligence Community (IC) data repositories.
