Data Scientist
Job Description
Guidehouse Digital, LLC is seeking a data scientist to help design, develop, and deploy advanced analytical models, predictive forecasting capabilities, and AI/ML solutions. This onsite role in Norfolk, VA supports Navy Reserve readiness, operational optimization, and mission assurance through decision-ready analytics products used by executive and operational leaders.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and implement advanced analytical models, predictive forecasting solutions, and AI/ML capabilities aligned to Navy Reserve readiness, operational optimization, and mission assurance objectives.
- Lead data analytics product development, including dashboards and visualization tools that convert complex information into actionable insights for executives, operational leaders, and stakeholders.
- Use statistical analysis, machine learning, data mining, and predictive modeling to evaluate trends, surface risks, optimize resource allocation, and improve decision-making.
- Work with data engineers, architects, business analysts, and government stakeholders to define requirements, validate analytical approaches, and deliver data-driven recommendations.
- Assess emerging analytics technologies, methodologies, and AI/ML capabilities to strengthen enterprise data solutions and support digital modernization efforts.
Required qualifications
- Active and maintained “SECRET” Federal or DoD security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 4+ years of professional experience developing data analytics solutions, statistical models, machine learning algorithms, or advanced analytical products.
- Experience using Python, SQL, Jupyter Notebook, Databricks, R (or similar analytics and data science tools) for data preparation, modeling, and visualization.
- Experience building predictive, prescriptive, or forecasting models and communicating results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What would be nice to have
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related field.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense, U.S. Navy, federal government, or mission-focused analytics programs involving readiness reporting, workforce analytics, or operational optimization.
- Experience developing AI/ML solutions, including predictive analytics, optimization models, natural language processing, anomaly detection, or decision-support tools.
- Familiarity with enterprise analytics platforms such as Advana, Databricks, Azure Data Services, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or Microsoft Power Platform.
- Experience leading analytic workstreams, mentoring junior analysts or data scientists, and presenting technical recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
