Job Description

Systems Planning and Analysis (SPA) is seeking a Data Scientist to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Modeling and Simulation effort. The role focuses on applying analytical and programming skills to collect, clean, and organize data that supports simulation, wargaming, and defense problem set analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use advanced analytical, programming, data collection, and data cleaning skills to support solutions to complex warfighting problems for the USCG.
  • Develop sets used with open-source tools and computer-based simulations to satisfy design requirements and support engagement- and mission-level analyses, including wargames, exercises, and experiments across defense problem sets.
  • Collect, clean, and organize data to support analytical models and the model validation process.
  • Support analytic studies using datasets managed in-house as well as outputs generated by analytic models.
  • Coordinate with team members to maintain databases containing asset attributes that influence system design, functionality, and analytical approaches.
  • Develop mission-level representations of U.S., allied, and adversary forces executing warfighting concepts of operation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Data Science, or an equivalent field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with USCG, DoW, or other agencies in National Security or Homeland Defense involving data management or operations research.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with PowerBI, SQL, R, or Python.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Active Secret clearance; eligible for TS/SCI.
  • Ability to work fully onsite based on client needs.

Compensation

USD 115,000 - 145,000 per year. Virginia, Pay Transparency Salary range: USD $115,000.00/Yr. - USD $145,000.00/Yr.
