Data Scientist
Job Description
Lead data science research for breast cancer studies while building pipelines for multi-modal clinical and genomic data.
Responsibilities
- Manage the program’s projects in support of research within the breast cancer program in the Section of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine
- Develop frameworks for housing multi-modal clinical data, including genomic, pathology, and radiographic imaging datasets
- Develop and code data dictionaries for discrete data
- Write, implement, and develop efficient code, machine learning tools, and data processing and analysis pipelines
- Perform reproducible genomic data analysis
- Calibrate data between large and complex research and administrative datasets; guide and may set operational protocols for collecting and analyzing information from internal university systems and external sources
- Design and evaluate statistical models and reproducible data processing pipelines using best practices in machine learning and statistical inference
- Work with collaborators to implement emerging external computational tools for program data
- Provide expertise for high-level or complex data-related requests and coordinate with other IT resources as needed
- Analyze moderately complex datasets to extract and apply relevant information
- Support staff or faculty in defining projects and applying principles of data science in data manipulation, statistical applications, programming, analysis, and modeling
- Draft grant proposals
- Develop training material; keep lab knowledge-based trainings up to date
- Supervise trainees
- Perform other related work as needed
Requirements
- College or university degree in a related field
- Knowledge and skills developed through 2 to 5 years of work experience in a related job discipline
