Job Description
Thomson Reuters Special Services (TRSS) is seeking a Data Scientist to help Federal Law Enforcement customers by collecting, integrating, analyzing, modeling, and explaining large datasets in support of complex investigations. This is an on-site role at U.S. Government customer sites in the New York, NY area and is not a telework position.

Compensation
- Salary: USD 117,700 - 218,600 per year
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, integrate, clean, verify, resolve, and maintain large and complex datasets.
- Analyze data using statistical methods and techniques including graph networks, anomaly detection, spatial analysis, pattern-of-life analysis, sentiment analysis, and related approaches.
- Develop and apply data models such as risk models, community detection, classification, computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence models.
- Convert findings into actionable insights through dashboards, visualizations, briefings, and clear explanations for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Write, edit, customize, and execute Python code to support mission requirements.
- Use SQL for data extraction, pipelining, exploration, and analysis.
- Work directly with customers to understand problem statements, define project goals, develop methods, and deliver results within required timeframes.
- Support internal innovation and research and development through shared capabilities, technical skill development, and business development activities such as proof-of-concept projects and capabilities briefings.
Required Qualifications
- Citizenship: United States Citizenship, required to comply with government contract requirements.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance or agency work suitability determination, as required by assignment.
- On-site availability: Willingness to work full time on-site at U.S. Government customer sites in the Manhattan, NY area (not telework).
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field, including data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics, physical or biological sciences, geographic information systems, or a related discipline.
- Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in data management, data analysis, data modeling, data storytelling, programming, SQL, or related technical areas.
- Programming: Practical experience writing, editing, customizing, and executing code in Python.
- SQL: Experience using SQL for data extraction, pipelining, exploration, or analysis.
- Data handling: Ability to handle sensitive, confidential, or regulated data in accordance with applicable policies and requirements.
- Customer-facing skills: Ability to interface directly with customers at all levels and represent TRSS professionally.
- Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively with Data Scientists, Subject Matter Expert Analysts, Data Engineers, and cross-disciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current/Active government work suitability or security clearance.
- Experience working with law enforcement agencies.
- Programming skills in multiple languages other than Python, including R, Java, or SQL.
- Experience with software development, including collaborative codebases, version control, linting/testing, containerization, and interacting with REST APIs.
