Data Scientist, Ad Network (global)
Job Description
beehiiv is hiring a Data Scientist to support its Ad Network team with insights, analytics, and data pipelines for growth and optimization.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Managers and Business Leaders to define and track success metrics and KPIs such as CPC, CPA, and CPM
- Build and maintain dashboards and reporting for campaign performance, network adoption, and the impact of new advertisers and campaigns
- Own and develop the ClickHouse data model for ad network analytics
- Design and implement aggregation tables to support ML, reporting, and in-app dashboarding
- Run deep-dive analyses to identify patterns and pain points across the network
- Translate findings into recommendations that influence product roadmap and prioritization
- Monitor data flows for issues and anomalies, including those caused by misconfigurations
- Analyze network health to balance publisher payouts with advertiser value, and recommend changes to improve the balance
- Collaborate with Engineering and Data teams to improve event tracking, instrumentation, and data quality
- Build out a universal entity resolution system in collaboration with other engineers
- Maintain and expand advertiser conversion attribution logic
- Design and build a potential 1st-party subscriber enrichment product using interaction data across beehiiv products
- Partner with ML to run Brand Lift A/B test studies
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a highly technical Data Analyst, Data Scientist, or Data Engineer
- Strong SQL skills and experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Mode, Metabase, or similar
- Experience with R or Python for research and statistical analysis (including linear regression and k-means clustering)
- Experience with experimentation methods including A/B testing and multivariate testing
- Experience with database data modeling to enable reporting and analysis
- Experience with SQL ETL tools to define and materialize KPIs
- Ability to clearly communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
