Data Scientist - Engineering & Financial Support
Job Description
Systems Planning and Analysis (SPA) is hiring a Data Scientist in Alexandria, VA (onsite) to support funding and financial planning for a defense manufacturing effort. This role combines hands-on analytics with tool development and cross-team collaboration across finance, procurement, engineering, and scheduling. Responsibilities
- Analyze complex data sets and develop analytic tools used to coordinate, plan, manage, and execute funding and financial plans for a defense manufacturing effort.
- Use a technical background and strong programming skills to design, implement, and maintain analytics across finance, procurement, engineering, and scheduling.
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team that includes engineers, developers, managers, and stakeholders to provide recommendations related to the manufacturing lifecycle and project management.
- Provide recommendations connected to manufacturing lifecycle and project management to support program execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or business field.
- 2+ years of experience (or strong internships) analyzing complex data sets, developing analytic tools or software, and applying coding languages such as Python and PowerBI DAX to solve engineering or project management problems.
- Proven ability to coordinate, communicate, and work independently in a dynamic team environment.
- Ability to simplify complex problems, deliver actionable recommendations, and independently address analytic challenges.
- Current DoD security clearance with a minimum of Secret, with the ability to maintain it throughout employment.

Desired qualifications
- Familiarity with DoN databases such as Navy ERP and Navy NEPS.
- Experience and knowledge of Navy requirements and program office organizations and processes.
- Experience supporting defense manufacturing, Navy shipbuilding, research and development, defense acquisition programs, or other relevant initiatives.
Pay range
USD $70,000.00/year - USD $90,000.00/year (Virginia, pay transparency salary range).
