Data Scientist, SPX AI Lab, SPX Science

This Data Scientist role centers on defining and building agentic AI capabilities for the Seller Assistant initiative, owning the problem space end-to-end from customer insight to a scalable shipped product.

Responsibilities

• Lead the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a core Seller Assistant capability area.
• Design and deliver agentic experiences that enable reasoning, planning, memory, and context engineering to address complex seller problems at scale.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate frontier AI research into production-grade features that sellers trust and rely on.
• Develop rigorous evaluation frameworks, including automated and human-in-the-loop assessments, to measure agent quality, accuracy, and business impact.
• Analyze seller data to identify unmet needs and craft PR FAQs that define the direction for the team.
• Coordinate cross-functional alignment across science, engineering, UX, and business teams to deliver quickly and with high quality.

Requirements

• Minimum two years of data scientist experience.
• At least three years of experience with data querying languages (for example SQL), scripting languages (for example Python), or statistical/mathematical software (for example R, SAS, Matlab).
• At least three years of experience with machine learning or statistical modeling for data analysis, including understanding parameters that affect performance.
• Minimum one year of experience working with or evaluating AI systems.
• Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or equivalent experience in STEM fields.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem solving
• Experience in a ML or data scientist role at a large technology company
• Experience defining and creating benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance
• Experience collaborating on multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects
• Experience applying quantitative analysis to solve business problems and making data-driven decisions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex concepts
