Job Description

KeyBank National Association is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to support financial crimes analytics and quantitative modeling in a hybrid setting in Cleveland, OH. The role focuses on building and monitoring models for AML/BSA/OFAC, with work performed under manager supervision and delivered in close collaboration with compliance, technology, and risk partners.

What you’ll do

  • Under manager oversight, carry out quantitative work including model development and ad hoc analytics to support financial crime compliance needs across AML/BSA/OFAC
  • Research, compile, and evaluate large data sets to assess data quality and determine suitability for model building
  • Develop and maintain internal models; test and configure vendor solutions to ensure sound design, proper implementation, and acceptable model performance
  • Document the model development process and outcomes, and support model validation and review
  • Apply innovative techniques to improve model effectiveness and efficiency, including efforts aimed at reducing false positives
  • Build technical skills and business knowledge while collaborating effectively with compliance, technology, and risk stakeholders

Required qualifications

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data sciences, predictive modeling, or other quantitative disciplines, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience (preferred experience in AML/BSA, OFAC, or fraud modeling/analytics); with a bachelor’s degree, 4 years of relevant experience is required
  • Strong expertise in both traditional modeling and Machine Learning (ML)/Artificial Intelligence (AI) modeling practices
  • Hands-on statistical coding experience in SAS and/or Python
  • Knowledge of and ability to leverage traditional databases, cloud-based computing, and distributed computing
  • Knowledge of financial crime regulatory requirements, technology, and data analysis best practices
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to Cleveland, OH or Buffalo, NY

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary range: $94,000.00 - $175,000.00 annually
  • Placement within the pay range may vary based on factors including skills, experience, and geographic location
  • Eligibility for incentive compensation, which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives
