Job Description
BlueCross BlueShield of Louisiana invites qualified candidates to join as a Health Data Analyst in Baton Rouge, onsite. This role centers on the use, storage, integration, and analysis of prescription drug and healthcare data, delivering reporting and actionable insights to support pharmacy operations, program performance monitoring, and informed business decisions under the guidance of senior team members. Position Overview
The Health Data Analyst helps manage prescription drug and healthcare data, providing reporting and analytical insights to support pharmacy operations, program performance tracking, and strategic decision making under experienced guidance.
Responsibilities
- Support pharmacy operations by assisting with data reporting, analysis, and data management activities.
- Develop and maintain reports and analyses related to prescription drug utilization, operational performance, and financial outcomes.
- Write and execute data queries and prepare datasets for reporting and analytical use.
- Perform data validation, quality checks, and testing to ensure accuracy and completeness of data and reporting outputs.
- Assist with data integration, conversion, and transmission activities to support business needs.
- Contribute to departmental financial modeling, budgeting, compliance, regulatory reporting, and audit tasks.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Pharmacy, Health Analytics, IT, and EDW to fulfill data and reporting requests and support issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Accounting, Information Management Systems or a related field; four years of related experience can substitute for the degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in operational, data, statistical, and/or financial reporting.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with large data sets in a DBMS (e.g., SQL, SAS, Teradata); computer programming experience can substitute for DBMS experience.
- Strong analytical, research, data validation, and report development skills with attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of data structures, data analysis, and reporting concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize findings clearly.
