Job Description

Brooksource is hiring a Junior Data Engineer for a hybrid position in Philadelphia, PA. In this role, you will help build and support enterprise data pipelines, ingestion processes, and data warehouse solutions, with increasing exposure to cloud-based data engineering technologies.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts used for data processing, ingestion, and reporting.
  • Build and maintain ETL workflows and data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
  • Use SSIS and related technologies to support data integration and transformation.
  • Validate data throughout ingestion and transformation to support quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Assist with designing and implementing relational and dimensional data models, including star-schema structures for data warehousing.
  • Contribute across the SDLC, including requirements analysis, development, unit testing, UAT, deployment, and production support.
  • Perform unit testing and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate transformations and business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues in data pipelines, SQL, and data quality, partnering with senior engineers to identify solutions.
  • Use JIRA for ticket management, development tracking, and project workflows.
  • Support reporting and visualization efforts using tools such as Tableau and Oracle BI (OBI).
  • Document data flows, transformations, technical processes, and business rules.
  • Follow established standards for data governance, privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders across different technical levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • About 0–2 years of professional experience working with SQL, databases, data engineering, analytics, or related technologies.
  • Working knowledge of SQL/T-SQL, including queries, joins, stored procedures, and relational database concepts.
  • Familiarity with ETL concepts and data integration processes.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and foundational data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling and star schemas.
  • Understanding of the SDLC and software testing practices.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a technical team.
  • Strong interest in developing skills in AWS and cloud-based data engineering.

Pay: USD 27 per hour (pay range is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary).
