Job Description
Main Sail LLC is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design and deliver agentic AI and conversational solutions across Google, AWS, and Microsoft ecosystems. The role focuses on context engineering, agent design, secure API-based data access, and ongoing model performance and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop applications that interact with web services, APIs, and other software applications.
- Lead and mentor AI design and development efforts as needed, including conducting peer reviews to maintain and expand AI design standards.
- Design the overall structure of agentic AI solutions, including defining required features, user flow, and API development and integration with other systems.
- Implement and tune Natural Language Processing techniques to improve AI assistant understanding and response accuracy.
- Train and deploy AI models, and monitor solution performance using dashboards.
- Create custom indexes, manage data sources, and tune intent matching to improve accuracy and relevance within the AI solution context.
- Design conversational flows that deliver a seamless, intuitive experience with human-like and engaging agent interactions.
- Analyze agent interaction data to identify patterns, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare reports on agent performance metrics and investigate agent performance issues through debugging and system updates.
- Ensure the AI agent and conversational assistant comply with data privacy laws and maintain high security standards when handling sensitive user data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, UX designers, project managers, and business customers and business SMEs.
- Work with Automation Center of Excellence (CoE) members, incorporating established standards and ensuring solutions align with target architectures and technology roadmaps.
- Support safe and transparent AI operations within accepted boundaries, aligned to organizational governance policies and practices.
- Plan, initiate, and spearhead proof of concept (POC) initiatives using emerging technologies.
- Produce technical writing and materials using Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Excel to create presentations and white papers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent and extensive related project experience.
- Six years of IT experience, including at least four years implementing AI conversational agents and/or generative AI.
- Two years of experience developing Google conversational agents, including CX Agent Studio and Dialogflow CX Web and Voice Virtual Assistants.
- Two years of experience developing Enterprise Looker Dashboards to monitor AI agent performance.
- Two years of experience in AWS ecosystems using AWS services such as AWS Bedrock, AWS Transcribe, AWS Comprehend, Lamda, and Step Functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Agentic AI Developer experience using Microsoft Foundry.
- Experience developing and maintaining SharePoint Online solutions using MS Power Platform.
- Google and AWS certifications relevant to the role.
Skills and Technical Focus
- Extensive experience building AI conversation agents using Google tools such as CX Agent Studio, Google Conversational Agents, Dialogflow CX, and/or Google CCAI Services.
- Ability to build and maintain Enterprise Looker Dashboards for monitoring AI agent performance.
- Experience delivering generative AI solutions in the AWS ecosystem, including AWS Bedrock, AWS Transcribe, AWS Comprehend, Lamda, and Step Functions.
- Capability to develop AI agents and virtual assistants using Microsoft Foundry with Azure services including Azure AI Search and Azure AI Language Service, plus Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft CoPilot Studio.
- Ability to integrate virtual assistants with Microsoft services such as Office 365 and SharePoint, and third-party APIs.
- Deep understanding of API design principles and AI service interface constraints.
- Strong programming skills in C#, .NET, JavaScript, or Python for chatbot application development, testing, and deployment.
- Ability to facilitate discussions with business SMEs, and create and present AI solution proposals that communicate business and technical concepts.
- Experience training and deploying AI models, and leading efforts to create technology solutions and architectures affecting critical business areas.
- Ability to lead emerging technology analysis and conduct proof of concept initiatives.
- Strong consultative skills across cross-functional stakeholders, including critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Ability to establish and maintain high customer trust and confidence.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information systems, or a related discipline. Master’s degree is preferred.
Location and Compensation
Location: Remote (remote). Compensation: USD 85 to 95 per hour.
