Lead Data Scientist GenAI, Financial Planning & Analysis - Strategic Analytics
Job Description
Deloitte’s Strategic Analytics team is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to drive generative AI and advanced analytics initiatives within Finance, including the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions that support strategic priorities. This onsite role in San Diego pairs technical delivery with close collaboration across finance and operational stakeholders.
Role Overview
As a Lead Data Scientist GenAI on the Strategic Analytics team, you will design, build, and deploy AI/ML and advanced analytics solutions. You will also contribute to generative AI product development aligned to finance-focused strategic priorities. The position includes constructing cloud-based data pipelines and model deployment workflows, while translating business needs into actionable insights through cross-functional partnership.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics solutions for business stakeholders
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines, application programming interfaces, and model deployment workflows in cloud environments
- Partner with finance, strategy, and operational teams to convert business requirements into technical solutions and actionable insights
- Support development of generative artificial intelligence use cases, prototypes, and production-ready products aligned to strategic priorities
- Monitor solution performance, maintain technical documentation, and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and adoption

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, data engineering, or software engineering
- 3+ years of experience developing solutions using Python
- 2+ years of experience working with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- 2+ years of experience using Structured Query Language and working with relational or distributed data platforms
- Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on work performed and clients and industries/sectors served

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
- Experience developing generative artificial intelligence or large language model solutions
- Experience with machine learning operations tooling and model deployment frameworks
- Experience building application programming interfaces or production data products
- Experience supporting finance, financial planning and analysis, or enterprise strategy use cases
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
Compensation
The salary range for this role is USD 102,500 to 188,900 per year. The range reflects a broad set of factors considered in making compensation decisions. It is not typical to be hired at or near the top of the range, and compensation is determined based on the facts and circumstances of each case.
