This role develops and deploys ML solutions to transform infrastructure operations at scale within Amazon Infrastructure Engineering's AI/ML team. The position is based onsite in Austin, TX, with an annual salary range of USD 143,700 to 194,400.

Description
Amazon Infrastructure Engineering builds AI and ML capabilities that power the companys infrastructure operations. The team collaborates across diverse groups—from network engineers to product managers—to identify and address the most impactful technical challenges. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will partner across teams and environments to tackle a range of complex business problems, applying software development practices to ML initiatives and advancing generative AI capabilities. Your day may involve translating technical requirements with infrastructure teams, prototyping ML approaches to optimize network performance, and participating in code reviews with colleagues across the organization. The role alternates between hands-on development, design discussions with stakeholders, and rigorous research to push ML solutions into production.
Responsibilities
- Address complex technical problems across all layers of the stack, including novel challenges
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative ML solutions that enhance performance, durability, cost, and security
- Develop high-impact ML systems aimed at benefiting a broad customer base
- Deliver high-quality, highly available, always-on products
- Research and evaluate implementations to optimize customer experiences
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and stakeholder communications
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive business solutions with technical input
- Operate in a startup-like development environment focused on the most important work
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience focused on design patterns, reliability, and scaling
- 1+ years of software development engineering or related experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
