Machine Learning Engineer
Job Description
Join KSB GIW, Inc. in Grovetown, GA for an early-career Machine Learning Engineer role in the R&D group, applying ML to real engineering challenges. You will build AI systems that learn from industrial data and connect with engineering models, supporting experiments end to end and helping turn prototypes into production-quality code.
This onsite position is focused on practical outcomes: developing a reliable data foundation, implementing and training ML models (including physics-aware approaches), and communicating results through visualization and dashboard interfaces for end users.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain the data foundation, including ingestion, cleaning, transformation, validation, and metadata standards
- Implement and train machine learning models using Python and modern frameworks such as PyTorch
- Contribute to applied AI tooling that supports the broader R&D workflow
- Develop visualization and dashboard interfaces to present results to end users
- Run experiments, track outcomes, and report findings against defined targets
- Support the move from prototype to production quality with testing, documentation, and version control
- Collaborate with team members across engineering disciplines
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Physics, or a related field
- 1–3 years of professional experience or substantial project experience in machine learning, data engineering, or scientific computing
- Strong Python skills, including hands-on experience with: PyTorch and scikit-learn, plus NumPy and pandas; and scientific tools such as SciPy and Matplotlib
- Foundational understanding of scientific computing, including numerical methods, simulation concepts, or modeling physical systems (essential for the role)
- Foundational understanding of neural networks, model training, and optimization
- Experience with Git and working in a Linux environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative, coachable attitude
Helpful Experience
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, metadata schemas, and data quality frameworks
- Exposure to scientific or physics-informed machine learning, such as surrogate modeling or embedding physical constraints into ML models
- Background in CFD, simulation, computational mechanics, or applied physics
- Familiarity with agentic AI or LLM frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, or similar) at a collaboration level, not as a lead
- Experience with Jupyter, Docker, MLflow, or FastAPI
- Front-end or dashboard development experience with React
- Cloud compute experience with AWS or Azure, including GPU-based training
- Coursework or research projects in numerical methods, engineering, or applied science
Tools You’ll Work With
Python, PyTorch, scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas, SciPy, Matplotlib, Git, Linux, Jupyter, Docker, MLflow, FastAPI, React, LangChain, LangGraph, AWS, Azure.
