Machine Learning Engineer

Reddit is building machine learning systems that help deliver notifications to the right people at the right time. In this role, you will design and operate scalable ML infrastructure and end-to-end pipelines that power notification relevance, targeting, ranking, and personalization, while working closely with cross-functional partners to ship improvements across channels.

This full-time position is based in San Francisco, CA with remote work available. The base salary range for this position is USD 230,000 - 322,000 per year, and the role may also be eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units, with commission eligibility depending on the position offered.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable machine learning infrastructure that supports notification relevance, targeting, ranking, and personalization across channels such as push, email, and in-app notifications.
• Architect and implement end-to-end ML pipelines for notifications, including data ingestion, feature computation, model training, evaluation, deployment, and online serving in production.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and engineers across teams to define requirements, align on priorities, and deliver notification solutions end to end.
• Lead experimentation frameworks to evaluate new notification models, ranking strategies, and targeting policies, including methods such as A/B testing and multi-armed bandits (or similar approaches).
• Mentor engineers by providing technical guidance and sharing best practices in machine learning engineering, distributed systems, and ML infrastructure design.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5 (five) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

• Building ML models with PyTorch or TensorFlow.

• Working with large-scale key-value and NoSQL storage and caching systems such as Redis, Cassandra, and DynamoDB.
• Working with large-scale messaging and event-driven systems including Apache Kafka, AWS SQS, AWS SNS, and SES.
• Building workflows using orchestration systems such as Kubeflow, Ray, Apache Airflow, and AWS Step Functions.
• Experience with large-scale analytics and data warehousing platforms such as Google BigQuery and Amazon Redshift.
• Observability, logging, tracing, and monitoring experience using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS Cloudwatch.
• Designing, running, and analyzing A/B experiments to measure and optimize system performance.
