Machine Learning Engineer, Search - Local Services Team

The position is for a Machine Learning Engineer on TikTok's Local Services Search team, based in San Jose, CA (onsite). The role centers on applying large-scale machine learning to enhance search and recommendations, improve personalization, and boost conversion efficiency for billions of users.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the Local Services initiative by improving how users discover life services such as hospitality, dining, and leisure.
• Enhance the search experience for local services and support ecosystem growth.
• Apply large-scale machine learning techniques in search and recommendation settings serving billions of users to improve shopping experiences and increase conversion efficiency.
• Design and deploy end-to-end local services search algorithms across the full stack, including query analysis, relevance, recall, coarse and fine ranking, and blended ranking; develop personalized behavior models for relevance; predict CTR and CVR; implement vector recall and value blending.

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid foundation in machine learning and deep learning, with experience in natural language processing.
• Excellent coding skills with solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in Linux development environments.

Job Information

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $156,000 to $316,800 annually. Compensation may vary outside this range based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is part of the total package and may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.
