Job Description

The Operational Data Analyst role supports the Tennessee Department of Education’s K-12 data strategy by strengthening data analysis, reporting, and operational process improvement. The position contributes through dashboard development, internal data request fulfillment, and workflow automation using Power Automate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build advanced understanding of departmental data systems and structures through data extraction, validation, and quality assurance activities.
  • Respond to internal data requests that support decision-making, performance monitoring, compliance reporting, and policy analysis.
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, standardized reports, and analytical tools for program operations and continuous improvement.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data management processes, including data-cleaning methods, business rules, and annotated code.
  • Analyze and interpret statutes, administrative rules, policies, and procedural documentation to ensure correct data application and reporting.
  • Provide analytical and technical data support to assigned program areas.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee standardized processes for district data submission, validation, and appeals to support accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Design and maintain automated workflows using Power Automate and related tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Deliver technical guidance and operational support to program teams and district data administrators to ensure effective implementation of data processes.
  • Analyze existing workflows to identify opportunities for process optimization, standardization, and improved operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to special projects and cross-functional initiatives related to data strategy, systems improvement, and operational effectiveness.

Location and Compensation

  • Location: Nashville, TN (onsite)
  • Salary: USD 70,000 - 78,000 per year
