Job Description

The Global Partnerships Data Engineer role at Andreessen Horowitz helps power the data infrastructure behind Global Partnerships. You will take ownership of core datasets, build and automate reliable pipelines, and partner with teams to turn unclear business needs into scalable systems and actionable insights. This onsite position is based in Menlo Park, CA, with a salary range of USD 269,000 - 314,000 per year.

The role

In this position, you own and advance critical data infrastructure, systems, and automation that support the firm’s Global Partnerships activities. The work combines hands-on engineering with cross-functional leadership, including serving as a technical and strategic thought partner across Global Partnerships and adjacent teams.

What you will do

  • Take lead ownership of critical systems, including the Global Partnerships core datasets and data pipelines, and advise on data practices, automation, and scalable process design.
  • Design and maintain scalable data infrastructure and reliable pipelines that connect Global Partnerships systems while reducing manual work and error rates.
  • Maintain high standards of data precision by monitoring and correcting discrepancies across platforms.
  • Evaluate and implement tools and integrations that improve visibility, connectivity, and decision-making.
  • Identify, pilot, and scale AI tools and agentic workflows to remove manual work, then drive adoption through training, documentation, and change management.
  • Lead automation and operational scale by enhancing processes to improve data accuracy, reliability, and speed.
  • Act as an AI thought partner, staying current on emerging tools and translating them into high-leverage improvements for LP-facing and internal processes.
  • Build visualizations and quantitative analyses supporting fund and investment performance, including projected exit scenarios, liquidity, and follow-on decisions.
  • Develop fluency with the firm’s portfolio company information database, manipulating and analyzing system data to derive insights.
  • Refine and calibrate portfolio performance analyses to keep them current and relevant.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience; prior data analytics or data engineering experience is preferable but not limited to those areas.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a technical field preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail for written prose and for charts, tables, and spreadsheets, with comfort staying on top of changing facts across multiple documents.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively in written form.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining data workflows, automations, or integrations using Python, Javascript, or a comparable programming language.
  • Proven ability to lead ambiguous, cross-functional projects with autonomy and influence across technical and business teams.
  • Experience owning or administering complex data pipelines or other critical business systems, with emphasis on data completeness, governance, and integration.
  • Low ego, high empathy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
