Job Description
Avispa Technology is building the data and AI foundation behind people analytics, workforce insights, and AI-enabled solutions. This People Data Engineer role (contract) supports that mission by creating scalable people-data models and dependable integrations, helping teams move from source HR systems like Workday to governed, production-ready datasets and APIs.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable people-data models in the enterprise data warehouse.
- Develop and support data pipelines, APIs, interfaces, and integrations that connect Workday and other HR systems with the enterprise data platform.
- Convert approved business definitions and product requirements into technical data specifications, including reusable data assets, architecture patterns, and consistent people-data usage across dashboards, analytics products, scorecards, and approved AI use cases.
- Maintain technical documentation covering data models, integrations, transformation logic, dependencies, and platform components.
- Coordinate with the enterprise data team, HR technology, security, and people functional teams on source-data onboarding, engineering dependencies, release planning, and production implementation.
- Implement automated data quality monitoring with validation rules, reconciliation controls, exception alerts, and end-to-end data lineage.
- Define and run production support, including incident management and escalation practices, while monitoring platform health, pipeline performance, refresh reliability, and recurring failures.
- Apply technical controls for data access, privacy, confidentiality, retention, and sensitive-data handling, and operationalize governance requirements with Privacy, Legal, Security, and HR Technology.
- Contribute to the people-data dictionary by providing source mappings, transformation logic, and lineage, and ensure sensitive-data structure changes are reviewed, tested, documented, and released appropriately.
What you bring
- 5+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data architecture, or a related field, including production-grade pipelines, models, integrations, and quality controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, data modeling, ETL/ELT, APIs, cloud data platforms, version control, and automated testing.
- Preferred: experience with HR data, Workday, enterprise data warehouses, sensitive-data governance, or AI/ML data enablement.
- Preferred: experience with Databricks or a comparable cloud data ecosystem and BI semantic models.
