Job Description

Deloitte’s AI & Engineering practice helps clients design, develop, and operate advanced data, AI, and engineering platforms, products, insights, and services. In this role, you will support organizations modernizing operational technology (OT) environments by building secure, high-performing connectivity foundations for intelligent industrial operations.

This onsite position in New York, NY focuses on physical and spatial AI concepts, including digital twin and spatial intelligence, alongside practical network engineering for connected equipment, cameras, IIoT sensors, and automation. You will design segmented, multi-site network solutions and ensure reliable data movement across OT and IT domains as AI and high-performance networking use cases grow.

What you’ll do

  • Design new industrial networks and modernize existing infrastructure to support connected equipment, cameras, IIoT sensors, automation, and increasing data demands.
  • Develop segmented, multi-site network solutions using modern routing, switching, remote connectivity, and software-defined networking technologies.
  • Enable reliable data movement across OT and IT while supporting emerging AI, high-performance, and optical networking use cases.
  • Use network and agentic automation tools to improve deployment, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
  • Apply established OT architecture and cybersecurity frameworks to integrate IT and OT environments, reduce risk, and protect critical operations.
  • Design connectivity for industrial protocols and time-sensitive applications in complex operating environments.
  • Use network KPIs, monitoring, assurance, and structured troubleshooting to enhance availability, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver practical solutions for organizations in manufacturing, energy, industrial, technology, media, and telecommunications.

Key technologies you may work with

  • Digital twin, spatial intelligence, and Physical AI
  • Routing, switching, and software-defined networking
  • Segmentation approaches including VLANs, Purdue Model, and IEC 62443 zoning principles
  • Industrial protocols such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and OPC UA
  • Automation and tooling including agentic automation, Ansible, Netmiko, n8n, and LangChain
  • Time-sensitive networking (TSN) and AI networking technologies including InfiniBand and Spectrum-X
  • Optical transport network (OTN) devices and supporting connectivity concepts
  • Security and connectivity technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IPsec, SD-WAN, VRF-lite, VXLAN-EVPN, and secure remote connectivity
  • Network assurance and performance practices using network monitoring and KPIs

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting network connectivity solutions for OT or industrial environments, demonstrated through completed client or enterprise projects.
  • Consulting environment experience delivering technical solutions directly to clients.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or supporting networks in OT or industrial environments.
  • Experience with network segmentation including VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs, or secure remote connectivity.
  • Knowledge of the Purdue Model and IEC 62443 network zoning and segmentation principles.
  • Experience with at least one industrial communication protocol such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, or OPC UA.
  • Experience troubleshooting OT network connectivity and performance issues.
  • Experience using network monitoring tools and performance data to maintain reliability and support troubleshooting.
  • Experience connecting IIoT devices or integrating network connectivity across OT and IT environments.
  • Ability to create clear network designs and technical documentation.
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions to architects, clients, and OT and IT stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% on average, based on work, clients, and industries/sectors served.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

Preferred qualifications

  • Consulting experience strongly preferred, especially in client-facing strategy, architecture, or transformation delivery roles.
  • Experience presenting technical designs to an Architecture Review Board or similar governance forum.
  • Experience leading a client project or technical workstream and managing milestones, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience with multi-site connectivity, site-to-site IPsec, SD-WAN, VRF-lite, or VXLAN-EVPN.
  • Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible, Netmiko, n8n, or LangChain.
  • Experience with time-sensitive networking (TSN), AI networking technologies such as InfiniBand or Spectrum-X, or optical transport network (OTN) devices.
  • Current certification in a relevant wired, wireless, security, or industrial networking technology.
  • Experience in data center, sports venue, consumer, or retail environments.
