Principal Data Scientist - AI Trainer

DataAnnotation is seeking a remote Principal Data Scientist - AI Trainer to evaluate AI-generated quantitative work and provide actionable feedback to strengthen AI reasoning. This contract role offers flexible, project-based scheduling with compensation up to $60 per hour. The position is based in Toledo, Ohio, with remote work options and requires a minimum of two years of quantitative experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess AI-generated quantitative outputs, including statistical analyses, predictive models, scientific reasoning, and data-driven insights, for technical accuracy and real-world validity.
• Design and solve quantitative problems used to train and benchmark AI systems, spanning forecasting, experimental analysis, optimization, and statistical inference.
• Write clear technical explanations and maintain well-documented analytical code.
• Provide feedback that directly informs the development of AI models built for quantitative reasoning.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in a quantitative role or research environment, such as data science, statistics, economics, finance, physics, biology, epidemiology, operations research, or related fields.
• Some coding experience with the ability to write and review analytical code end-to-end.
• Practical experience with statistical methods, predictive modeling, and experiment design, including A/B testing, hypothesis testing, regression, classification, and time-series forecasting.
• Fluency in English with strong writing skills.
• A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field is preferred; a master’s degree or PhD is a plus.
• Credentials such as Kaggle rankings or AWS/GCP ML certifications are a plus.
