Project Lead Data Engineer III
Job Description
Deloitte is seeking a seasoned data engineering leader to drive Teradata initiatives in the Government & Public Services and AI/Data portfolios from our Sacramento office. In this Project Lead Data Engineer III role, you will steer Teradata administration and performance optimization while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to advance public sector data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Teradata environments by administering servers, databases, partitions, tables, indexes, and storage constructs to ensure reliability and availability.
- Tune SQL queries and optimize database performance to improve efficiency and responsiveness.
- Oversee Teradata utilities such as BTEQ, load utilities, and workload management to support data processing operations.
- Monitor system health, identify maintenance needs, and proactively execute upgrades, patches, and performance improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to communicate system status, resolve issues, and provide updates on Teradata environment health.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role
- 8+ years of experience as a Teradata DBA with strong expertise in database administration and system management
- 2+ years experience with Teradata utilities (BTEQ, load management, query execution management) and user/database administration
- 2+ years experience with SQL skills with demonstrated experience in performance tuning and query optimization
- Ability to travel 5-20%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Salary: USD 119,000 - 198,400 per year
