Research Data Scientist I
Job Description
Research Data Scientist position within HVTI at Cleveland Clinic supporting cardiovascular outcomes research through data analytics and predictive modeling.
Responsibilities
- Apply basic statistical, mathematical, and predictive modeling methods to build algorithms and perform data analytics
- Use programming skills with tools such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB, or similar technologies
- Conduct basic data analysis tasks including data validation, data investigation, and hypothesis testing
- Support the Principal Investigator by transforming data to address research questions
- Develop basic predictive and statistical models using modeling tools
- Find process improvement opportunities to increase the efficiency of data pulling, reporting, programming, and operations
- Curate and process complex clinical and biological datasets
- May communicate or present research findings
- Identify technical issues and manage resolution for analytics programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years of experience performing data analytics, math or statistical modeling, or machine learning
- OR Master’s degree or PhD
- Proficiency with programming in SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Data and computer science/IT/programming background
- Knowledge of research
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Experience with clinical findings

Salary
- USD 69,600 - 106,132 per year
- Pay range reflects anticipated range for new hires; actual compensation determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education
- Pay range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime)
- Pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision)

- Typical demands include high dexterity for producing materials on a PC, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting, and frequent walking
