Job Description
Senior AI Data Engineer at Citi, at the Vice President level, based in New York on site. The role centers on designing, developing, and deploying AI agents while leading applications systems analysis across programs.
Responsibilities
- Agent design and development: create and implement intelligent agents, covering perception, reasoning, planning, and action execution components.
- System architecture: build scalable, robust architectures for agent-based systems with emphasis on performance, reliability, and security.
- Machine learning integration: incorporate diverse ML models including large language models, reinforcement learning, and predictive models to enhance agent capabilities.
- Task automation: develop agents capable of automating complex tasks, optimizing workflows, and solving real-world problems across domains.
- Framework and tooling: leverage and contribute to agentic AI frameworks and related development tools.
- Evaluation and optimization: design metrics and evaluation plans for agent performance and continuously refine agent behavior.
- Research and innovation: stay current with AI advancements in agent-based and autonomous AI, proposing innovative solutions.
- Collaboration: work with AI researchers, data scientists, product managers, and software engineers to integrate agent solutions into products and services.
- Documentation: produce comprehensive technical documentation for agent designs, implementations, and operational procedures.
- Risk and compliance: assess risk in business decisions, protect Citi, clients and assets, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and escalate control issues with transparency.
Requirements
- Minimum six years of professional software development experience with a focus on AI, ML, or agent-based systems.
- Finance industry experience is a plus.
- Programming: strong proficiency in Python and SQL; Java knowledge is advantageous.
- Solid grounding in core AI concepts, including knowledge representation, automated planning, decision-making under uncertainty, and multi-agent systems.
- Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, and libraries like Scikit-Learn, NumPy, and Pandas.
- Familiarity with large language models and their use in agentic systems.
- Exposure to agent frameworks (for example LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, RAG) or research in multi-agent reinforcement learning.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs for AI services.
- Strong software development practices, including Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and code reviews.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a creative approach to complex challenges.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Cloud and container platforms: experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, and with Docker and Kubernetes.

Compensation and Work Terms
- Hourly rate: USD 142 per hour
- Full-time salary range: USD 142,320 to 213,480 per year
