Senior AWS Redshift Data Engineer (Contract | 1099)
Job Description
Senior AWS Redshift Data Engineer on a full-time 1099 contract through the end of the year, based in Austin, TX, with an hourly rate of USD 140 - 173.
Responsibilities
- Lead optimization and ongoing maintenance of large-scale AWS Redshift clusters to ensure robust data warehouse performance and scalable queries (60%)
- Enhance and support ETL pipelines, leveraging Kafka streaming and ECS-based jobs to guarantee timely data delivery and reliability (30%)
- Improve BI performance and data availability for reporting tools, including Looker, to support analytics needs (10%)
- Prepare data assets for AI-enabled applications and MCPs to enable AI workflows
- Collaborate closely with the data engineering and BI teams to align data strategies and delivery
Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or related roles
- Must be based in the United States
- Extensive experience optimizing AWS Redshift clusters, including environments with hundreds of terabytes of data
- Strong experience tuning, repairing, and maintaining heavily queried and frequently updated Redshift tables
- Experience configuring and managing Kafka streams
- Experience with Looker or a similar BI platform
- Familiarity with Python and/or AI-enabled data workflows is a strong plus
