Job Description
What we offer
Compensation: USD 79,600 to 143,300 per year. Location: Onsite in Charleston County, South Carolina. The Senior Data Analyst role focuses on data management, ETL/ELT, data integration, analysis and reporting, BI strategy, collaboration, and continuous improvement to support data governance, security, and actionable insights across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Partner with IT, Institutional Research, and campus stakeholders to design and build automated data pipelines that feed the enterprise data lake architecture
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and consolidate data from multiple systems into the data lake
- Support the deployment and ongoing optimization of the college's cloud-based data warehouse and data lake environment
- Oversee the data lifecycle to maintain integrity, accuracy, consistency, and availability across the platform
- Support and maintain Ellucian Banner ODS integrations and related data flows
- Implement and enforce data governance practices, including metadata management, data quality standards, and data lineage tracking
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure secure, compliant data usage, including FERPA adherence and institutional policies
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including AI tools, with governance, security controls, and cost awareness
- Establish and maintain data tracking, validation, and quality assurance processes to ensure reliable analytical outputs
- Collaborate with IT colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure seamless data integration from diverse sources into the enterprise data lake for analysis and reporting
- Together with institutional data owners, develop and manage third-party ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources to support reports and dashboards, including identifying cost plans/payors and evaluating AI implications
- Monitor and troubleshoot ETL/ELT processes to maintain data quality and reliability
- Ensure data pipelines align with governance standards, including metadata, data classification, and lineage
- Maintain the stability, operation, and support of the legacy Ellucian Operational Data Store
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies and provide actionable insights for strategic planning
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders
- Offer data-driven recommendations to drive improvements across processes and initiatives
- Create reports and contribute to processes for harmonizing and improving quality across the college’s data systems
- Provide training and support to end-users on BI reports to help them interpret insights for decision making
- Develop and maintain data and process documentation to preserve historical data and ensure continuity
- Ensure documentation reflects current processes and is accessible to non-experts; collect feedback for clarity
- Triage data problems and work with departmental analysts and data stewards to resolve issues by deadlines
- Test and validate reports for accuracy and reliability; update reports as business needs or data sources change
- Contribute to institutional data literacy goals to empower campus stakeholders to use data in decision making
- Provide research-backed recommendations for shaping the data strategy and BI roadmap
- Research emerging BI and data analysis technologies, industry trends, and methods to enhance campus-wide insights
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize BI tools and features to support institutional priorities and strategic plans
- Manage BI projects and participate in cross-functional BI initiatives
- Collaborate with BI teammates, IT Business Consultants, and stakeholders across divisions to gather requirements and support reporting objectives
- Communicate complex data concepts to non-technical audiences clearly and concisely
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data analysis, warehousing, and data lakes
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative data solutions
- Pursue ongoing professional development and share knowledge to strengthen team capabilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Math, or a related field
- Five years of applicable experience in data analysis and warehousing
- Relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis

Preferred qualifications
