Senior Data Analyst
Job Description
Make an impact with data at the City of San Antonio as a Senior Data Analyst. This onsite role helps teams turn complex information into clear, actionable insights for decision-making. You will interpret and present analytical results that support goals and objectives across the organization, with a salary range of $59,000 - $87,207 per year.
What you’ll do
Under direction, you will collect, process, analyze, and present data to support informed decisions. Your work will include researching complex issues, evaluating systems policies and procedures, and developing recommendations based on statistical evidence.
- Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to maintain accuracy and reliability
- Apply statistical methods and data modeling techniques to interpret results and support predictions
- Identify patterns, trends, and anomalies through quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Compile and clean databases and data collection systems to improve data quality and efficiency
- Design reporting dashboards that communicate insights to non-technical audiences
- Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver data-driven solutions
- Support data privacy and security compliance throughout data handling and processing
- Research technical issues, provide solutions, and recommend technological improvements
- Prepare and complete ad-hoc reporting requests, summaries, and presentations
- Use findings to make data-driven recommendations for practices, programming, and policies
Depending on assignment, you may assist with preparation and monitoring of the annual budget, and you will perform related duties as required.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years of experience in a relevant field, such as data analysis or statistical modeling
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include data analysis and technology, statistics with experience using statistical packages, and proficiency in data collection, cleaning, transformation, and validation. You should also be able to communicate clearly, provide technical assistance to users, and work effectively primarily in an office environment.
Preferred skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency in data collection, visualization, and data management
- Experience producing executive-level reports, briefings, and presentations with strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to coordinate high-priority or time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organization and prioritization with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and anticipate needs
- Experience collaborating across departments or with external partners and stakeholders
