Senior Data Engineer
Job Description
Apexon is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Red Bank, New Jersey, on a hybrid schedule, to design, build, and govern data platforms, with a focus on Snowflake pipelines, performance, and scalable data solutions in close collaboration with the engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Lead data management activities across data systems, including development, governance, organization, storage, and analysis
- Participate in the full lifecycle of Snowflake solutions, from planning and requirements through development, testing, and quality assurance
- Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and implement optimal data platform solutions
- Maintain platform performance, uptime, and scalability while upholding high standards for code quality and thoughtful design
- Troubleshoot incidents, diagnose root causes, implement fixes, document issues, and apply preventive measures
- Manage deliverables effectively in fast paced environments
Requirements
- 8 to 10 years of experience designing and developing data solutions in an enterprise environment
- 5+ years of hands-on Snowflake platform experience
- Strong SQL and Python development skills
- Experience designing and developing data warehouses on Snowflake
- At least three years building production ready data ingestion and processing pipelines using Spark and Scala
- Hands-on experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Informatica, or Automic
- Solid understanding of metadata management and data lineage
- Practical knowledge of SQL analytical functions
- Hands-on experience with shell scripting and Java scripting
- Experience with software engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and performance engineering
- Comfort with Git, Confluence, and Jira
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Team player with collaborative communication abilities
