Job Description

The Senior Data Engineer will design, implement, and sustain RectorSeal's Azure cloud data platform and medallion architecture to support the Data & BI team. This delivery-focused, hands-on role requires a hybrid on-site presence in Houston.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy scalable cloud data platforms to support manufacturing operations, inventory control, and distribution analytics.
  • Develop and maintain lakehouse architectures and ELT/ETL workflows using Databricks, Lakeflow, Azure Data Factory, FiveTran, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Ingest data from ERP and diverse sources such as JD Edwards (JDE), HubSpot, Oracle, and SQL Server.
  • Configure and sustain Unity Catalog, applying access policies, lineage settings, and metadata per the governance framework.
  • Implement RBAC and ABAC across the data platform, including row-level and column-level security in Unity Catalog and ADLS.
  • Monitor pipeline health, diagnose failures, and perform root-cause analysis for data quality or performance issues.
  • Provide daily support and respond to production incidents promptly.
  • Deliver clear technical documentation for solutions, including pipeline designs, data flow diagrams, runbooks, and configuration notes.
  • Keep the team's knowledge base up to date with comprehensive documentation.
  • Contribute to the establishment and adoption of team standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of hands-on data engineering experience with Databricks, strong Python skills, and proficiency with Delta Lake, PySpark/Spark SQL, notebooks, jobs, and cluster management.
  • Proficiency with Azure Data Platform components, including Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Key Vault.
  • Hands-on experience with data integration, connector management, APIs, and Databricks Lakeflow (Workflows / DLT pipelines); familiarity with medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, and incremental loading.
  • Five or more years working with Oracle (PL/SQL, stored procedures) and SQL Server (T-SQL, CDC, query optimization); experience extracting from JD Edwards (JDE) data structures and business models.
  • Hands-on experience implementing RBAC/ABAC, including row-level and column-level security across Databricks, Unity Catalog, and relational databases.
  • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and participation in sprint planning.

RectorSeal uses a market-based approach to establish salary ranges to remain competitive. Compensation falls within the range based on experience and market position, with potential pay incentives tied to overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the CSW Board of Directors.
