Senior Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer
Job Description
Senior Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer based in Chicago, IL with a hybrid work arrangement, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions, including a semantic data layer and AI driven data products to enable business intelligence, data science, and advanced analytics.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of scalable data pipelines to enable seamless data integration and processing across heterogeneous systems.
- Define and uphold analytics engineering standards, covering coding practices, data governance, performance optimization, and automation strategies.
- Contribute to code quality through participation in reviews, providing constructive feedback, and advancing engineering practices.
- Develop and maintain robust ETL and ELT pipelines, along with reusable frameworks, to process data from multiple sources and ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines to maintain high availability and performance across data workflows.
- Establish CI/CD processes to automate deployment, testing, and maintenance of analytics workflows.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications and deliver data solutions.
- Explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to foster alignment on data initiatives across teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, dbt, and Snowflake.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.
- Proven track record designing and building scalable data pipelines and architectures.
- Strong understanding of data governance, quality assurance, and performance optimization in a data engineering context.
- Expertise in ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and integrating data from multiple sources into a data warehouse.
- Experience implementing CI/CD workflows and tools for data engineering.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a collaborative mindset.
