Senior Data Scientist

Bowhead seeks a Senior Data Scientist for the upcoming Technical Project Support Services (TPSS) contract in Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD. The position focuses on leading the development and implementation of advanced analytics that convert raw data into actionable insights.

Role Overview

This TPSS effort supports the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Webster Outlying Field (WOLF) in delivering mission-critical systems and services. The engagement provides technical, project management, engineering, logistics, training, and administrative support for air, ship, shore, expeditionary, and surveillance systems that support warfighter operations. The Senior Data Scientist leads advanced techniques and analytics applications to transform raw data into actionable insights using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the application of data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
• Direct the visualization, interpretation, and reporting of data findings to support clear communication of insights.
• May oversee the creation of dynamic data reports to enable strategic decision-making.
• Provide support and guidance to junior staff and collaborate with senior team members to apply analytical techniques and methodologies that improve project outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience and a Master’s degree; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) additional years of experience may be substituted.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels and with outside contacts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must be able to maintain a Secret clearance; US Citizenship is required for a Secret clearance at this location.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 15 to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
• Ability to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
