Senior Data Scientist Immunotherapy Platform
Job Description
Work at UT MD Anderson on the Immunotherapy Platform (IMT), helping translate computational findings into insights on tumor-immune interactions and therapeutic response. This hybrid Senior Data Scientist role supports complex, multi-modal cancer analyses from analytical design through biological interpretation and publication. Salaries range from USD 123,000 to 185,000 per year, with an expected midpoint of USD 154,000.
What you’ll do
- Analyze high-dimensional biomedical datasets including single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics (CosMx, Visium, CODEX), bulk RNA-seq, and clinical datasets
- Characterize the tumor microenvironment, immune cell states, and cell-cell interactions
- Integrate multi-modal data across genomic, spatial, proteomic, and clinical sources to support IMT research priorities
- Design and execute end-to-end computational analyses aligned with translational research goals
- Develop reproducible and scalable analytical workflows and reusable pipelines (for example, via GitHub)
- Use strong programming skills in Python and/or R for data processing, analysis, and workflow implementation
- Apply public cancer resources such as TCGA and GEO where appropriate
- Propose independent analytical strategies and hypotheses, and collaborate with experimental and clinical teams to refine biological questions
- Contribute biologically meaningful insights from complex datasets, including support for manuscripts with expectation of first or co-first authorship
- Support grant development through computational analysis and data interpretation
- Stay current with emerging computational biology methods and apply them to IMT datasets
