Senior GCP Data Engineer
Job Description
The Senior GCP Data Engineer role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform, using GCP-native services while maintaining governance, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines within a GCP environment
- Develop solutions using GCP-native technologies including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub
- Ensure end-to-end data governance, security, and optimal performance across the platform
- Troubleshoot complex issues across the data platform and related microservices
- Monitor and optimize cost and compute resources for GCP-based processing
Technology Focus
Work includes Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub. The role also involves supporting tools and practices across the stack, including DataProc, SQL, Java, Python, and approaches aligned with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices.
Additional ecosystem and engineering technologies listed include PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases, columnar databases, data governance frameworks, data encryption, data masking techniques, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform. Automation and delivery tooling includes Tekton.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 7 years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering
- At least 2 years hands-on experience building and deploying cloud-based data platforms with GCP
Preferred Skills
- Experience with automation frameworks
- Interest in data innovation and continuous learning
Location and Employment Details
- Location: United States (hybrid)
- Schedule: 4 days per week onsite

Compensation
USD 75 - 80 per hour
