Senior Staff Data Engineer focused on Platform Data and Analytics at Faire, based in San Francisco with hybrid work options.

Plan and deliver scalable technology initiatives to match Faire's growth, steering architecture with emphasis on data integrity, security, performance, scale, reliability, and observability.
Collaborate on team planning and prioritization, balancing urgent needs with long term objectives.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship on complex, open ended challenges, including cost efficient compute and storage, ETL and ELT pipelines, data ingest and warehousing, monitoring and alerting, workload cost tracking, and governance for foundational assets, data security, and privacy.

Experience designing, building, and operating data streaming, batch, ETL/ELT, orchestration, storage, compute, and workflow systems at scale.
Proven ability to define architecture patterns and construct reliable, scalable data pipelines, orchestrate data movement, querying, transformation, and analytics engineering workflow frameworks.
Strong SQL and Python skills.
Data warehousing experience at petabyte scale.
Snowflake, Airflow, Spark experience is highly valuable.
Understanding of performance, capacity, and cost trade offs in data processing; able to guide technical and product teams on these decisions.
Experience diagnosing and mitigating data system production issues at scale; implementing patterns for workload performance and cost optimization.
Experience in a growth stage company with a data function spanning multiple teams and over 60 people; enabling self service for teams.
Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
