Sr Data Scientist - Commercial

Join Hertz’s Revenue Management team in Georgia (onsite) and help build proprietary optimization products that strengthen customer offers and support revenue growth. This role designs, delivers, and maintains end-to-end solutions in close partnership with commercial and technical stakeholders, including Revenue Management, Pricing, Sales, Product, Distribution, Operations Research, IT, and external vendors.

What you’ll work on

Hertz Revenue Management is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist - Commercial to turn commercial opportunities into actionable data sources, methods, tools, and models. You will enhance analytical capabilities using large data sets, including approaches such as time series forecasting, reinforcement learning, and optimization modeling.

• Identify commercial opportunities to optimize Hertz revenue through new data sources, methods, tools, and models
• Enhance existing analytical tools and build new solutions/tools based on large data sets
• Own and deliver end-to-end solutions, coordinating with stakeholders and IT through implementation and ongoing support
• Support the long-term customer vision aligned to Hertz’s business strategy as the marketplace evolves and new products are introduced
• Build strong relationships and coordinate with commercial business units, Operations Research, Finance, IT, and senior management to ensure timely delivery of sponsored projects
• Track industry efforts and disruptive technologies, and champion solutions that reinforce Hertz’s position as an industry leader
• Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Work across the interconnected areas of Fleet, Pricing, and Revenue Management, and assess combined impact on the Hertz customer experience
• Develop the Data Analytics Team
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

Required qualifications

• Master’s degree in operations research, statistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field
• 2–5 years of industry experience in modeling, data science, or operations research
• Highly proficient communication skills and the ability to advocate for Hertz Revenue Management solutions across the enterprise
• Experience with data scripting languages such as SQL, Python, or R, or statistical/optimization software such as R, SAS, Gurobi, C++
• Big data experience, including processing, filtering, and presenting large volumes of data
• Ability to understand and work with large unstructured data sets
• Proven success solving complex quantitative problems
• Ability to work well with diverse groups in a time-sensitive team environment with minimal supervision, remaining results oriented and deadline focused with attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects through solution delivery
• Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
• Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles

Preferred qualifications

• 5+ years in operations research, statistics, computer science, or a related science field
• Experience with time series forecasting, reinforcement learning, machine learning, or optimization
• Knowledge of revenue management theory or travel industry systems/data

Compensation and benefits

Starting salary: $105K per year, commensurate with experience.
