Sr Data Scientist, Experimentation

Realtor.com is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead experimentation and analytics efforts from its Austin, TX headquarters. This role focuses on delivering data-informed product and business decisions through rigorous analysis, improved measurement, and AI-enabled self-service reporting tools.

Role Overview

The Sr Data Scientist, Experimentation will own key experimentation, business analytics, and reporting workstreams. The position partners cross-functionally to enhance tracking and data quality, define success metrics, and apply descriptive, statistical, and predictive analytics to uncover insights into consumer preferences, behaviors, and intent.

Key Responsibilities

• Support both short- and long-term strategic goals across core product initiatives.
• Lead exploratory analysis to identify and size product development opportunities while balancing trade-offs between feature expansion and optimization.
• Own learning agendas, design multivariate tests, and convert complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations that influence business decisions and the product roadmap.
• Define success metrics for strategic initiatives and deliver high-quality, data-driven analyses highlighting consumer behavior, segmentation, and quality acquisition.
• Drive development of self-service AI-enabled reporting tools so cross-functional teams can independently explore, measure, and monitor performance.
• Continuously improve tracking and data quality, conduct deep-dive analyses to understand product performance, and address key strategic questions.
• Use descriptive, statistical, and predictive analytics to uncover foundational insights that guide product direction.

Required Qualifications

• MS/BS in computer science, statistics, mathematics, operations research, or related fields, plus 5 years of relevant experience in data science, machine learning, or applied statistics, with a strong background in product analytics or experimentation.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Tableau, and Amplitude (or similar analytics tools).
• Experience with AI-enabled tools: Streamlit, Claude/MCP, n8n, and Windsurf (required).
• Ability to create ETL pipelines using dbt and Airflow.
• Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills focused on complex analytical challenges, experimentation, improving user experience, and measurable impact.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain data insights and statistical or ML concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
