Job Description

Staff Data Engineer role on Xometry’s Data Platform team, focused on building enterprise data architecture and scalable batch and streaming pipelines with broad technical impact.

Responsibilities

  • Design and drive enterprise solutions with deep technical ownership across multiple systems and domains
  • Own the partner integration data plane for embedded DFM AI + IQE integration between Xometry and partner ecosystems
  • Architect and build bidirectional data pipelines for partner Teamcenter and Designcenter integrations
  • Define and maintain the joint data model for parts, BOMs, quotes, and manufacturability signals
  • Deliver a low-latency signal path that sends DFM and pricing feedback back into the designer’s environment
  • Establish governance, lineage, and audit posture for public-marketplace partner integration
  • Build for scale by architecting and optimizing reliable batch and streaming pipelines, models, and platforms for high-volume data
  • Support real-time and event-driven flows that the partner integration depends on
  • Take end-to-end accountability from acquisition and transformation through delivery, observability, and ongoing performance
  • Set engineering standards for data modeling, CI/CD, testing, and code quality across the data engineering function
  • Enforce contract-testing and schema-evolution discipline when data crosses partner boundaries
  • Handle ambiguous, cross-domain problems by evaluating variable factors and aligning solutions with business and technical objectives
  • Translate multi-quarter strategic priorities into technical roadmaps while determining methods and timelines independently
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, business stakeholders, and external partner engineering teams
  • Mentor through design reviews, code reviews, and technical mentorship to elevate team capability
  • Evaluate and adopt tools and architectural patterns by staying current with the data engineering ecosystem

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (or equivalent experience) plus 5+ years in a data engineering related role with demonstrated ownership of complex, large-scale data systems
  • Deep expertise with cloud data warehouses, with Snowflake strongly preferred (optimization, best practices, performance tuning)
  • Expert SQL and strong Python proficiency; ability to add languages as needed
  • Hands-on experience building and optimizing pipelines, architectures, and datasets using modern tooling such as dbt, Airbyte, Airflow, or similar
  • Enterprise data architecture experience across multiple systems and domains, including integrations across organizational and partner boundaries
  • Working knowledge of queueing, batch and stream processing (Kafka, Spark, Kinesis) and scalable data stores (Apache Iceberg)
  • Experience writing database-heavy services or APIs and designing for testability and maintainability
  • Strong CI/CD fundamentals with automated testing, contract testing, and schema-evolution discipline
  • Strong grasp of the AWS data ecosystem and cloud-native infrastructure
  • Ability to operate independently on new and ambiguous assignments, determine methods and procedures, and communicate effectively across the organization and with external partner engineering teams
  • Enterprise / partner integration experience integrating with PLM, ERP, or large enterprise SaaS systems; Teamcenter experience (data model, BMIDE, Active Workspace APIs, AWC integrations) is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Looker and Streamlit
  • Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and observability tooling, especially when data flows across partner or tenant boundaries
  • Exposure to modern lakehouse or data mesh architectural patterns
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, CDC pipelines, and low-latency operational data flows feeding into a customer-facing UI
  • Manufacturing, supply chain, or marketplace experience is a plus; curiosity and drive matter more
