Job Description

The Agentic AI Engineer role at Booz Allen Hamilton focuses on designing and deploying agentic AI capabilities, including multi-agent environments, retrieval augmented generation pipelines, and edge deployments across enterprise contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Embed agentic AI features into existing enterprise systems and workflows, covering API integration, process automation, and end-user adoption.
  • Architect and implement intelligent agent constructs capable of reasoning, planning, and taking actions.
  • Develop and deploy collaborative multi-agent ecosystems using Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) interfaces.
  • Build advanced RAG pipelines that fuse unstructured data with Knowledge Graphs to improve reasoning accuracy and context retention.
  • Fine-tune Small Language Models for domain-specific needs and optimize their performance on edge devices.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Six or more years of software development experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in cloud environments (AWS and Azure), evaluating architectural tradeoffs, building robust service-based software for scalable use, and using LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, PydanticAI, CrewAI, or LlamaIndex.
  • Experience with Model Context Protocol for tool integration, Agent-to-Agent collaboration, RAG architectures and knowledge graphs, memory models for long-running agents (episodic, semantic, and working memory), and benchmarking frameworks such as GAIA, SWE-bench, or custom evaluation harnesses.
  • Experience with tool or function calling patterns across multiple LLM providers.
  • Experience fine-tuning LLMs or Small Language Models.
  • Knowledge of modern software design patterns, including microservices or edge computing.
  • Ability to translate agentic AI capabilities into practical enterprise workflows, bridging technical implementation with business processes.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing environments and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Capability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
