AI Engineer

You will contribute to building autonomous AI systems and automation tools that integrate with the TMS and RPA stack, all from a distributed team setting.

This role is remote and emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration with product, operations, and engineering to design, implement, and monitor intelligent automation across structured logistics workflows, driving measurable outcomes with a strong focus on safety and auditability.

Responsibilities

• Design agentic AI workflows for structured logistics tasks, including explicit escalation to human review or RPA when deterministic processing is needed
• Integrate automation workflows with core platforms and internal APIs, embedding them in the TMS and other systems, collaborating with frontend and backend engineers on implementation
• Integrate LLMs, APIs, and data pipelines into robust production services, including data engineering integrations with Firestore and Redshift
• Develop agentic AI systems capable of autonomous decision making and task execution
• Own evaluation frameworks covering accuracy, latency, cost per call, fallback behavior, and exception handling
• Implement guardrails, monitoring, and audit trails for production AI systems
• Collaborate with Product and Operations to define success metrics prior to development
• Leverage modern LLM ecosystems, including Claude‑based platforms and code‑first AI frameworks, to build intelligent agents and workflows
• Stay up to date with advances in AI and ML, with emphasis on agent frameworks and automation tooling
• Build lightweight frontend interfaces from product prototypes and collaborate with full‑stack engineering to productionize and scale successful prototypes

Requirements

• At least 3 years of software engineering experience with hands‑on work shipping AI or automation systems in production enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of agentic AI concepts, including tool usage, function calling, exception routing, and confidence handling at scale
• Clear sense of where LLMs and agentic systems outperform RPA and where they do not
• Comfortable collaborating with RPA developers and handing off structured outputs into downstream deterministic workflows
• Experience with LLM APIs such as Claude and OpenAI, including prompt design, orchestration, and evaluation
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as n8n, LangChain, Temporal, or equivalents
• Familiarity with no‑code/low‑code automation tools including Zapier, with the ability to move beyond them when needed
• Experience building rules‑based automation with structured inputs, exception handling, and audit trails
• Familiarity with retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and vector databases
• Experience integrating with TMS or ERP platforms and calling core platform APIs to execute production actions
• Backend proficiency in Node.js; comfortable building lightweight interfaces with React; able to partner with full‑stack and data engineering teams to ship to production
• AWS experience including Lambda, ECS, and S3
• Familiarity with databases and data warehouses such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL/MySQL on RDS, Firestore, and Redshift
• Experience integrating third‑party APIs and building microservices
• Active GitHub history or demonstrated track record of shipping AI systems in production beyond prototypes
